GETTING AROUND
TRANSPORTATION
BY PLANE
To get to the Azores, flying is the best and fastest option. You can choose from a few companies including low cost airlines that fly in to the Azores.
However, there are only about seven flights a day flying in. Please make sure you book your flights early. Also, cargo is a major deal so please confirm your bike when you purchase your ticket. If you book early enough you will find excellent prices.
The Azores Islands are just a 2 hour flight away from Lisboa or Porto, 4h30 from the USA, 3 hours from Madrid, 3h30 hours from Paris and London, and from most cities in Europe less than 5 hours away.
The airport in S. Miguel, the biggest Island and where the race takes place, is just about 3 km from Ponta Delgada’s city center, the Azores Capital.
TRANSFERS & CAR RENTAL
Once on the island, we recommend you either choose the transfer option when you register, or that you rent a car with our car rental company, Wayzor. Please be aware that parking in the city center and in most locations is paid by meter.
The swim competition will take place in VFC – Vila Franca do Campo, which is about 22 kms from Ponta Delgada. The bike will take place in Ribeira Grande, about 20 kms from Ponta Delgada. And the run will be in Lagoa das Sete Cidades, about 25 kms from Ponta Delgada.
You can book your transfers when you make your registration. If you choose to rent a car, we recommend our official car rental company, Wayzor, and that you book through our official DMC, Açoreana, here.
